Rick Wagoner

Rick Wagoner is an American businessman born on February 9, 1953 in Wilmington, Delaware. He is best known for his successful career in the automotive industry. Wagoner joined General Motors (GM) in 1977 and steadily climbed the corporate ladder, becoming CEO and president of the company in 2003. He played a significant role in guiding GM through a difficult period marked by financial struggles and the global economic crisis. During his tenure, Wagoner implemented various cost-cutting measures, streamlined operations, and successfully negotiated labor agreements. However, in 2009, he resigned from GM under government pressure after the company filed for bankruptcy. Following his departure from GM, Wagoner held consulting positions and served on the boards of several organizations, including Duke Energy and the Washington Post Company.
