Mary Roberts Rinehart

Mary Roberts Rinehart (1876-1958) was an acclaimed American novelist known as the “American Agatha Christie”. Born in Pennsylvania, she studied at the Pittsburgh Training School for Nurses before turning her talents to writing. Rinehart gained popularity with her mystery novels, which combined intrigue, suspense, and humor. Her most famous work, “The Circular Staircase”, was published in 1908 and established her as one of the leading American crime writers. Rinehart continued to write prolifically throughout her career, publishing over 50 books, including plays and non-fiction works. Her contributions to the mystery genre earned her the nickname “The Queen of Mystery” and her novels have been adapted into successful films and plays.
