Christina G. Rossetti

Christina Georgina Rossetti was a 19th-century British poet born on December 5, 1830, in London, England. She came from an artistic family, with her father being an Italian poet and translator, and her brother Dante Gabriel Rossetti being a famous painter and poet. Despite health problems early in her life, Rossetti developed a passion for poetry and began writing at a young age. Her first collection, “Goblin Market and Other Poems,” published in 1862, received critical acclaim and established her as one of the leading poets of the Victorian era. Rossetti’s work often explores themes of love, faith, and mortality, reflecting her deep religious convictions as an Anglo-Catholic. Some of her notable works include “In the Bleak Midwinter,” “Remember,” and “A Birthday.” Christina Rossetti passed away on December 29, 1894, leaving behind a significant body of literary work that continues to be celebrated for its lyrical beauty and introspective nature.
